Drug Name
Entocort is an anti-inflammatory steroid medication that is used to prevent asthma attacks. Please note that it will not stop an asthma attack that has already begun.
How it is taken
Entocort is inhaled using a special inhalation device. Read the instructions for using the device carefully in the patient information leaflet.
Place the mouthpiece between your lips and breathe in rapidly and deeply through your mouth. The drug will be inhaled as you breathe in. Hold your breath for 10 seconds to assure it reaches deep into your lungs. Slowly breathe out. You should not exhale into the device.
If you accidentally drop the inhaler or breathe into it, then you will have to load another dose of the drug. Do not use the inhaler if the mouthpiece is detached or it has been damaged.
If you have been asked to inhale twice, then please wait for at least one minute before inhalation.
If you are using a combination of inhalers, then use this one last.
Rinse your mouth after use to prevent a dry mouth sensation.
Maintain a regular schedule for using this medication and do not increase the dosage or stop using it without consulting your doctor.
Drug Class & Mechanism
Entocort is a corticosteroid that prevents the release of certain substances that cause inflammation.
Missed Dosage
If you miss a dose of Endocort then you may take it as soon as you remember and adjust the remaining doses accordingly. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose then you may skip this dose and continue with the regular dosage. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
Storage
Store it at room temperature (between between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C) in an air tight container protecting it from direct exposure to light, heat and moisture. Keep away from pets and children.
